MobilityPLUS Service

MobilityPLUS is a specialized service of pre-booked trips for people with a mobility challenge. People registered with MobilityPLUS can book a ride anywhere within the Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge city limits.

People seeking to use this program must meet the eligibility requirements and become a registered member of  MobilityPLUS.

You may be eligible for the MobilityPLUS program if you meet any one of the  following criteria:

  • Physically unable to climb or descend steps on conventional public transportation 
  • Unable to walk a distance of 175 metres (575 feet)
  • Suffer from a temporary disability, such as a broken leg
  • Registered with CNIB

GRT’s bus fleet consists of low-floor buses, so using conventional is encouraged whenever possible. People registered with MobilityPLUS may ride conventional buses free of charge.

MobilityPLUS in North Dumfries

MobilityPLUS-North Dumfries is part of GRT's service specifically for residents of North Dumfries Township. It provides transportation to the North Dumfries and Cambridge service areas; Kitchener service is available only to medical services that are not  available in North Dumfries or Cambridge.

You can become eligible for MobilityPLUS in North Dumfries if you meet any one of the  following criteria:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • Registered with CNIB
  • Physically challenged
  • Mentally challenged
  • Temporarily or seasonally disabled, affecting your mobility (for example, a broken leg, or visually impaired as defined by CNIB)

MobilityPLUS for Visitors

A visitor to the City of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo or the Township of North Dumfries may register with GRT MobilityPLUS for a maximum of six months.

Applicants must:

• meet current GRT MobilityPLUS eligibility criteria
• allow a minimum of 10 business days for the application to be processed
• complete a GRT MobilityPLUS visitor application form available here

Kiwanis Transit in Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich townships

This specialized service was developed for people with a mobility challenge living within Wellesley, Wilmot or Woolwich township.   

You may be eligible for Kiwanis Transit if you meet any one of the  following criteria:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • Registered with CNIB
  • Physically challenged
  • Mentally challenged
  • Temporarily or seasonally disabled, affecting your mobility (for example, a broken leg or visually impaired as defined by CNIB)

Once you have completed it, mail it back to the address below. Applying online is not an option for Kiwanis Transit.
