Fares: Adults & Children Under 5

Adult tickets and monthly passes are sold at Transit Terminals on Ainslie Street in Cambridge and Charles Street in Kitchener, most Sobeys and Zehrs grocery stores and many other locations across the Region.

Note:

  • Children under five travel free if accompanied by a paying customer.
  • All Regular fares apply for support persons accompanying customers with disabilities.

Tickets: $9.75 for five tickets

Purchasing a strip of GRT tickets offers value and convenience.

Adults (ages 19 to 64, including post-secondary students): $9.75 for five tickets.Cash fare for five rides would be $12.50.

Monthly pass: $63

This pass provides unlimited ridership on all GRT routes for one calendar month. If you take a round-trip on GRT five times a week, a monthly pass saves you nearly 30 per cent of the cash fare.

Photo I.D. card needed

To purchase or use an Adult pass, you need a GRT Photo I.D. card. Photo I.D. is available at the Ainslie Street and Charles Street Transit Terminals for a one-time fee of $5.

  • Note: A pass for the following month is on sale from the 20th of each month until the 15th business day of the following month.

Tax credit

Keep your pass after it expires. You can claim the cost as a tax credit.

Proper use of the pass

Show your GRT Adult Photo I.D. with your pass when you board the bus. Your pass should have the serial number of the Photo I.D. card inscribed in ink, ballpoint or felt marker. The pass is non-refundable and not transferrable. GRT will not refund or replace a monthly transit pass for any reason.

Day Pass or Sunday / Holiday Family Pass: $5

The $5 Day Pass works well for shoppers, families or anyone taking numerous bus trips in a single day.

  • For individuals: A Day Pass allows unlimited rides in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo for one calendar day.
  • Family: If you travel with your family on a Sunday or holiday, the Sunday/Holiday Family Pass allows unlimited rides for two adults and three children, or one adult and four children. Children must be under age 18.
  • How it works: Purchase a Day Pass or Sunday/Holiday Family Pass and scratch off the day and month you wish to travel. When boarding the bus for the first time that day, show your pass. The driver will punch the month and day scratched so the pass is valid for the rest of that day.

Gift certificates

Gift certificates to purchase a monthly pass are sold at Cambridge's Ainslie Street Transit Terminal and Kitchener's Charles Street Transit Terminal.
