More than a fast routeiXpress graphic showing 14 stops

The iXpress route is designed to transport passengers between south Cambridge and north Waterloo along the fastest, most efficient route. There are 14 stations along the iXpress route, including existing terminals at Conestoga Mall in Waterloo, Charles Street Transit Terminal and Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener, and Cambridge Centre and the Ainslie Street Transit Terminal in Cambridge.

The 14 stations are marked with iXpress signs.

iXpress schedule

iXpress gets an early start Monday to Friday. Timing of the first bus depends where you are located and the direction in which you are travelling, but the iXpress system is in full swing by 5:40 a.m. Buses run at 10-minute intervals until 6:00 p.m., 15-minute intervals until 8:30 p.m., then at 30-minute intervals until 11 p.m.

On Saturdays, iXpress runs at 30-minute intervals from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., 15-minute intervals from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 30-minute intervals from 6 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Sunday and statutory holidays, buses run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 30-minute intervals.

How to calculate travel time

Following are typical weekday morning rush hour travel times between iXpress stations. To calculate your time, find the station you are leaving on the left. Then find the station you wish to travel to along the top. The corresponding square lets you know how long that trip should take.

iXpress features

Transit priority measures are in place to help our buses move along the route more quickly. Fifteen key intersections have transit priority signals which detect iXpress buses as they approach and either extends the green or shortens the red signal to minimize delay.

Special stations

The iXpress stations connect existing GRT routes, walking and cycling. Digital signs in the new-style shelters display the actual arrival time of the next bus. Select stations also have map displays, bike racks and bike lockers.
Walking routes to key iXpress stations were improved and additional links to the Regional Cycling Network will be provided. All GRT buses now have bike racks, so walking, cycling and transit can be easily combined.
