GRT is proud to announce the introduction of inter-city travel for our MobilityPLUS customers. GRT MobilityPLUS will provide pre-booked trips between Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. This expansion is part of the ongoing commitment to service improvements that are integral to the GRT business plan. Any resident of Kitchener, Waterloo or Cambridge who is a registered customer of MobilityPLUS may book a ride to anywhere within the city limits of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. Trip availability is limited so remember that the closer to the travel date you call to request a trip, the fewer choices will be available.

Our thanks to all who attended the focus groups and public open houses earlier this year. Your input was incorporated into the report presented to Regional Council. Council has approved in principle, pending annual budget reviews.
MobilityPLUS aims to improve transit accessibility for those who have difficulty using conventional buses. The report recommends augmenting the eligibility criteria for specialized transit services to include those persons with cognitive disabilities (e.g. Alzheimer’s, Downs Syndrome, brain injury, autism, and dementia) by offering improvements to existing services and offering different types of transit services that are most appropriate to a person's inability to access conventional transit.
The report also recommends continuing programs that encourage greater use of conventional transit, implementing conditional eligibility to MobilityPLUS services (depending on the time of the year and ease of use of conventional transit for specific trips), and initiating a demonstration project for persons with cognitive disabilities who attend day programs.
The main focus of the next five year business plan will be to work towards providing a truly regional specialized transit service.

Our first RAMP event was a great success! Thanks to all who attended and learned about low floor transit. The event was held on Sunday, June 11 at the Kitchener Auditorium. Three GRT conventional buses were on hand for those who use mobility aids to see how easy it is to board a low floor bus! Thanks also to the Independent Living Centre for their help in planning this event and for hosting the on-site BBQ. Watch for RAMP events in 2007!
