|
What is TaxiSCRIP?
- The TaxiSCRIP program is for residents of the urban service areas of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge who are registered with MobilityPLUS.
- TaxiSCRIP offers increased travel opportunities throughout the urban service areas of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
- Customers purchase TaxiSCRIP coupons, book service directly with a local taxi company, and pay with the TaxiSCRIP coupons.
How do I participate?
- Once registered with MobilityPLUS, you may go to the Charles St. or Ainslie St. Transit Terminals (see addresses below). You must display a government issued photo identification card before a MobilityPLUSPhoto Identification card can be issued.
- If you are not registered with MobilityPLUS, please call 519-585-7555 to request an application. Please be aware you must meet the current eligibility requirements.
What is the TaxiSCRIP book?
- The TaxiSCRIP book has a total face value of $40. It is sold to MobilityPLUS customers for $20.
- The book contains $5, $2 and $1 coupons. For people with a visual impairment, there are holes punched to differentiate each denomination.
- You may purchase a maximum of three TaxiSCRIP books each month.
- TaxiSCRIP is for the personal use of the registered MobilityPLUS customer. TaxiSCRIP coupons cannot be resold or transferred to anyone else. Proven abuse of this policy will result in TaxiSCRIP privileges being revoked.

How do I book a TaxiSCRIP ride?
- Telephone the taxi company of your choice to book your ride.
- Tell them that you are using TaxiSCRIP.
- The taxi company needs to know if you will require special assistance or if you use a mobility device such as a wheelchair, a walker, scooter or cane.
- If you are able to transfer safely and independently out of a folding wheelchair or a small folding scooter you may choose to use regular sedan taxis.
- If you require an accessible taxi, it is advisable to book in advance.
How do I pay the taxi driver?
- Show the driver your MobilityPLUSPhoto ID card to prove that you are eligible to use TaxiSCRIP. The driver will record your ID number.
- Use your TaxiSCRIP coupons to pay the fare shown on the meter. If the meter fare is not an even dollar amount then you must pay the extra amount in coins. For example - $5.80 paid with five dollars in coupons and 80 cents cash. The driver will not provide change from TaxiSCRIP coupons.
- You may pay the taxi driver with a combination of TaxiSCRIP coupons and cash. For example - $7.00 fare paid with three dollars in coupons and four dollars cash.
- Tipping is not necessary, however if you wish to tip the driver, you must do so with your own money and not TaxiSCRIP coupons.
- One or more companions may travel with you, up to the capacity of the vehicle, at no extra cost.
