Pausing service for National Indigenous Peoples Day

Posted on Monday June 20, 2022

We will pause bus and ION train service at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, June 21, for one minute.

Pausing service provides an opportunity to reflect on the beauty, resiliency, sacrifices and valuable contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, and remember that just a year ago the remains of 215 children were uncovered at a residential school in Kamloops BC. This was the first of several revelations across the country.

“We invite all who are able to join us in a moment of silence to consider how we can actively participate in Reconciliation, celebrate and promote Indigenous culture, and honour Indigenous history,” said Neil Malcolm, Acting Director of Transit Services.

For safety reasons, buses and trains will only pause if safe to do so; buses will not pause if they are travelling on a highway.
