Posted on Friday January 10, 2020

Waterloo Region – Discussions are continuing between the Region of Waterloo and UNIFOR Local 4304 (Grand River Transit/MobilityPLUS).

UNIFOR Local 4304 will legally be in a position to strike as early as 12:01 a.m. the morning of Tuesday, January 14, 2020. If there is a strike, GRT buses, Bus Plus and MobilityPLUS will not run. Every effort will be made to provide transportation for pre-scheduled dialysis trips. MobilityPLUS customers can continue to use TaxiScrip. Services provided by Kiwanis Transit will continue.

ION train service will continue to operate. Please note if an ION service disruption should occur, there will be no bus shuttles.

“Although negotiations have been challenging, our goal continues to be to negotiate a collective agreement with UNIFOR 4304,” said Mike Murray CAO, Region of Waterloo.
