Winter holiday service starts Monday, Dec. 22 and runs to Sunday, Jan. 4. Extra trips are removed on a number of routes serving schools, colleges and universities. There are also schedule changes on Christmas and Boxing Day.

Starting July 1, 2025, Grand River Transit (GRT) fares are changing. The fare change helps to offset the rising cost of transit and increases discounts for those living with low income. Fares are determined during the annual Region of Waterloo Plan and Budget process.

John Martz left his mark on Grand River Transit.
The former Kitchener resident came up with the winning design for GRT’s logo in 1999, when the service was created from a merger of Kitchener Transit and Cambridge Transit.
At the time, Martz was a 21-year-old graphic design student at Conestoga College. His design is blue and has a wave between the G and R to symbolize water while the bold letters tilt forward to illustrate motion.
