Effective July 1, 2024, Grand River Transit (GRT) fares are changing to balance value and affordability with the rising cost of operating transit.
During the 2024 Plan and Budget process, an increase in fare prices was approved, in addition to new products and increased transfer times for all customers.
There will be no changes to cash fares. Overall, fares will increase by an average of 2 per cent.

Each year Grand River Transit and the Region of Waterloo look forward to rolling out a new Pride bus. Unfortunately, this year’s bus will not be ready until later in June.

The first of Grand River Transit’s electric buses will begin service next month as part of its zero-emission bus pilot project. Ten more electric buses are expected to arrive this year.
This initiative is part of the Region of Waterloo’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050. In 2020, the Region of Waterloo discontinued the purchase of diesel-only buses, switching to hybrid and electric options.

Waterloo Region – Conestoga Students Inc. (CSI) and Grand River Transit (GRT) are excited to announce Conestoga College students have voted in favour of a GRT universal transit pass (U-Pass) for the Fall 2024 semester.
