This contest is being held by The Regional Municipality of Waterloo (the “Region”), owner and operator of Grand River Transit (“GRT”). Any questions with respect to this Contest should be directed to Sandy Roberts, Manager Marketing and Communications by email at sroberts@regionofwaterloo.ca.

This Contest is open to anyone residing in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario.  This Contest opens on Monday, May 27 and closes at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday, June 7, 2019. 

Entry

  1. To enter the Contest, fill out the contest form online or fill out a paper ballot at:
    • Charles Street Terminal, 15 Charles St. W., Kitchener
    • Ainslie Street Terminal, 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge
    • Region of Waterloo building, 99 Regina St. S., Waterloo
  2. All entries must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday, June 7, 2019.
  3. No purchase, expenditure or investment is necessary to enter this Contest.
  4. Employees of the Region of Waterloo (including Grand River Transit) and their immediate families are not eligible for Prizes in the Contest.
  5. Maximum of one (1) Contest Entry per person. If more than one entry is received from the same person, all such entries will be disqualified from the random draw.

Eligibility

Participation in this Contest is open to anyone currently residing in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario.

Prize Information

There will be 3 prizes awarded during the contest. The prize is a ride on the first ION train on opening day and $500 in stored value to ride GRT. The approximate retail value of the prize is $500 (CDN). The prize must be accepted as awarded and is non-refundable, non-transferable, may not be exchanged or substituted, and is non-redeemable for any cash value. The Region is not responsible for replacing the prize if it is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your knowledge or consent.

Winner Selection

  1. A random draw, by a representative of the Region, from all completed and correct entries received will take place on Wednesday, June 12 at Grand River Transit, 250 Strasburg Road, Kitchener, Ontario N2R 3M6. The selected winner will be notified by 4:30 p.m. (ET) of the day of the draw. The winner will be notified via phone and/or email.
  2. The Region’s rulings on the winner are final and without appeal in all matters related to this Contest and the awarding of the GRT prize.
  3. The selected entrants must correctly answer a skill-testing question before being declared the winner.
  4. If the selected entrant cannot be reached within 5 business days, incorrectly answers the skill-testing question or declines the prize, another entrant will be selected.
  5. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The Region is unaware of how many entries there may be.

Additional Rules and Regulations

  1. Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant will be required to sign a waiver and release releasing and holding the Region harmless in relation to the Contest and consenting to the use of his/her contest entry, name, city of residence and/or photography (collectively the ‘Submission’) in any publicity carried out by the Region, including, without limitation, Social Media, news media or advertising without further compensation as a condition to and in advance of receiving the prize, or the prize will be forfeited, and shall waive any moral rights in relation to Submission.
  2. The Region takes no responsibility for lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, illegible, destroyed or deleted entries or for website failures during the Contest period, for any problems or technical malfunction or any telephone network lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s  or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from using or downloading any material in this Contest. Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Region reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
  3. This Contest is subject to all federal, provincial and municipal laws.
  4. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
  5. Each entrant agrees to abide by all Contest rules and will be deemed to have reviewed and understood the rules if they participate in this Contest. 
  6. The Region is not responsible for printing, distribution, or production errors and may terminate or withdraw this Contest at any time without prior notice.
