Hand hold fare card against farebox card reader

GRT will provide updates when the EasyGO fare card is available for customers to pick up.

Using your EasyGO fare card on conventional buses

To pay your fare with the EasyGO fare card, hold your card level and square against the blue/green smart card target on the bottom right corner of the farebox. A single "ding" sound means your tap and payment was successful. A double tone means your tap was unsuccessful or your card doesn't have a valid fare.

A 90-minute transfer is automatically loaded on your card when you pay your fare. If you transfer to another bus within 90 minutes, the farebox will read your transfer. The farebox will ding and the display will show "Transfer Adult."

Group fares

You can pay for another person or group of people if you have stored value loaded on your card. When you board, let the operator know how many people you are paying for. They will enter the number on the farebox, and the farebox will display the total fare. Touch your card to the smart card target to pay the fare.

Please note: All of the transfers for your group will be loaded on your card. If your group splits up at a transfer point, the other members will not have transfers. The group payment option is intended for customers travelling together to their final destination.

If you have a senior or student card, the people you are paying for must also be seniors or students. You cannot pay for a group if you have a valid monthly pass on your card.

Using your EasyGO fare card on ION light rail

Platform validator for paying fare on ION light rail

ION light rail is part of GRT - it's all one system, with one fare. You can use your EasyGO fare card to pay to ride ION light rail.

Card readers are located at all ION light rail stations. You will touch your card to the blue/green target on the reader before boarding the train. The card reader will check your card for a valid transfer, pass or stored value.

The fare card allows you to transfer seamlessly between bus and ION light rail. You can tap your card on the bus and transfer to ION within 90 minutes without paying another fare. Or pay your fare when you board ION and transfer to the bus within 90 minutes without paying another fare.

Note that you cannot pay for another person when boarding ION. Group fares are only available on the bus.
