MobilityPLUS customers who live and travel in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge can purchase taxi coupons. Taxi coupons can be used to pay for taxi trips taken within the boundaries of the three cities.

Taxi coupon books have coupons that represent a cash value. The cash value of every book is $60; however a MobilityPLUS registrant can purchase one taxi coupon book for $30. When a taxi is called and arrives at the scheduled pick-up location, a MobilityPLUS customer can pay for their ride using the coupons in the book. Taxi coupons cannot be used for travel within the townships and registrants on MobilityPLUS North Dumfries or Kiwanis Transit services are not eligible for taxi coupons.

Taxi coupons are for the personal use of the MobilityPLUS registrant. Coupons cannot be resold or transferred to anyone else. Proven abuse of this policy will result in taxi coupon privileges being revoked. Lost or stolen taxi coupons will not be reimbursed.

A taxi coupon book

  • Contains $5, $2 and $1 coupons that add up to a total value of $60.
  • Is sold to MobilityPLUS customers for $30.
  • Has holes punched to differentiate each denomination for the ease of use for a person with a visual impairment.
  • Does not expire.

Purchasing taxi coupon books

Customers can purchase taxi coupons in an annual cycle from June 1 to May 31. The number of books a customer can buy depends on the length of their active registration with MobilityPLUS.

Customers are granted MobilityPLUS service for varying lengths of time. If you have service on a short term basis or during winter only, you can only purchase and use taxi coupons in the months that you are actively registered on the program. Any extra taxi coupons that are remaining can be used if and when a customer's registration status is reactivated.  If you have year round service, you can buy as many taxi coupon books as you want, up to a maximum of 24 books per year.

For example, if you are registered for:

  • One month, you can pay $60 and receive 2 books of taxi coupons.
  • Three months, you can pay $180 and receive 6 books of taxi coupons.
  • Four months, you can pay $240 and receive 8 books of taxi coupons.
  • One year, you can pay $720 to receive 24 books of taxi coupons.
