Remembrance Day service

ION light rail service

There will be an ION service disruption on Monday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be no ION light rail service between Grand River Hospital Station and Mill Station during this time. Shuttle buses will replace ION light rail service.

Trains will continue to run between Conestoga Station and Grand River Hospital Station, and between Mill Station and Fairway Station, with a pause in service for a moment of silence at 11 a.m. 

Because of the short length of the disruption, GRT's trip planning tools, including the trip planner and Next Bus Call/Text will continue to show ION departure times. This will also affect other apps and trip planning tools, such as Google Maps.

Bus service

Buses will operate on a regular schedule. There will be a pause in service for a moment of silence at 11 a.m.

In Kitchener, Routes 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 20 and 204 will be on detour from the start of service until 1 p.m. on Nov. 11. In Waterloo, Routes 5, 7 and 16 will be on detour from 9 a.m. - noon. In Cambridge, Routes 55 and 57 will be on detour from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and Route 203 will be on detour from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. View details on our Detours page.

ION replacement shuttle buses

Shuttle buses will operate between Grand River Hospital Station and Mill Station. Shuttle buses will stop at 301R ION Replacement Shuttle stops marked with a red stop marker.

Shuttle service will not operate on Duke Street; customers planning to board at Frederick and Kitchener City Hall Stations will board shuttles on Charles Street.

Shuttles will operate every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The shuttle schedule has been timed to allow customers to connect to and from ION trains.
