This summer, a new Pride bus will travel on various routes in Waterloo Region, celebrating community and connections. Both sides of the GRT Pride bus

The wrap was designed by local artist Sebastian Bailey, and features illustrations of different characters on a background of overlapping rainbow roads.

“The illustrations for this design are inspired by all of the things that are important to me and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community,” Bailey said. “Love, diversity, expression, community, culture and family are all things I believe represent us as a community and Pride month as a whole. The overlapping rainbows in the background of the design represents how our community is intertwined in our locale.”

Bailey is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Kitchener-Waterloo, and a graduate of Conestoga College's Graphic Design program. He has worked on multiple design projects relating to queer identities and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

“At the Region of Waterloo, we are proud to unveil this year’s Pride Bus, a vibrant symbol of love and diversity,” said Karen Redman, Chair of the Region of Waterloo. “ This initiative embodies our dedication to building a community where everyone feels they belong. Let’s continue to embrace and uplift each other as we celebrate Pride, unity and acceptance.”.

At various events in June, community members can see the Pride bus up close and take home a special sticker of the artwork as we celebrate Pride Month.
