Every Child Matters bus wrap features and artist

This year’s Every Child Matters bus features artwork by Maddie Bernard-Resmer, a mixed-Algonquin, Two-Spirit, Bear Clan artist and oshkàbewis based in Kitchener.
Their artwork is entitled Coming Home and uses the monarch butterfly, known for its long migratory journey home, as a key symbol, representing the resilience and spirit of Indigenous children, those who fled and those whose journeys home are still unfolding. Coming Home reflects what so many children in residential schools were denied: the simple, sacred return to family, warmth, language and identity.
