Taxi coupons

MobilityPLUS customers who live and travel in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo can purchase taxi coupons. Taxi coupons can be used to pay for taxi trips taken within the boundaries of the three cities.

Taxi coupon books have coupons that represent a cash value. When a taxi is called and arrives at the scheduled pick-up location, a MobilityPLUS customer can pay for their ride using the coupons in the book. Taxi coupons cannot be used for travel within the townships and customers on MobilityPLUS North Dumfries or Kiwanis Transit services are not eligible for taxi coupons.

Taxi coupons are for the personal use of the MobilityPLUS customer. Coupons cannot be resold or transferred to anyone else. Proven abuse of this policy will result in taxi coupon privileges being revoked. Lost or stolen taxi coupons will not be reimbursed.

A taxi coupon book

  • Contains $5, $2 and $1 coupons that add up to a total value of $60

Using taxi coupons

Arranging a ride

You must tell the taxi company:

  • You are using taxi coupons
  • If you use a mobility device so that a suitable vehicle can be arranged

Cambridge:
Golden Triangle Taxi

Kitchener and Waterloo:
City Cabs
United Taxi
Waterloo Taxi

Paying the taxi driver

Use your taxi coupons to pay the fare shown on the meter. If the meter fare is not an even dollar amount then you pay the extra amount in coins. For example, a $5.80 fare is paid with five dollars in coupons and 80 cents cash. The driver will not provide change from taxi coupons.

Tipping is at your discretion. If you wish to tip the driver, you must do so with your own money, not with taxi coupons.

Others may travel with you, up to the capacity of the vehicle, at no extra cost.

If you are travelling outside of Cambridge, Kitchener or Waterloo, you can only use taxi coupons to pay for the portion of your trip that occurs within the three cities. Beyond that, you will be required to pay using cash, credit or debit for the remaining portion of the fare.
