Active transportation projects

These active transportation initiatives across Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo were completed thanks to project funding through the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund (PTIF) and the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).

These projects make it easier to combine walking and cycling with transit.

  • This unique “Rail with Trail” is an all ages and abilities in all seasons trail that connects Northfield ION Station to St. Jacobs Market area and surrounding employers
  • The Market Trail includes:
    • Trail lighting with rest areas
    • Bike parking with space for bike share and e-scooter share programs
    • Direct access paths to key workplaces, as well as the Trans-Canada Trail and Woolwich Trails network
    • Winter maintained paths

  • Widening and new lighting on central section of shared-use Iron Horse Trail

  • New shared-use trail with lighting connecting Mill Station to future new development on the former Schneiders site
